The Audi Q7 (internal type designation 4M ) is the second series of the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) Audi Q7 and has been available since mid-2015.
Model history
The vehicle was presented at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in mid-January 2015 , and the market launch took place on June 12, 2015. The Audi Q7 e-tron plug-in hybrid was presented for the Geneva-based company in December 2014 Auto show announced in March 2015.
With the Audi SQ7 , another model variant based on the Q7 4M was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016.
A facelift was carried out on both the Q7 and the SQ7 in summer 2019 . The IAA in September 2019 was the first major motor vehicle fair on which vehicles could be seen.
technology
The second Audi Q7 is slightly smaller and, according to the press release, up to 325 kilograms lighter than its predecessor ( modular longitudinal construction kit ); in real terms, the weight reduction is 200 to 250 kg. Doors, fenders, bonnet and tailgate are made of aluminum.
In the model variant Q7 e-tron, the body has a drag coefficient (c W ) of 0.34 and a frontal area of 2.86 m² (exemplary comparison VW Golf VII : 2.19 m²).
For the first time, all-wheel steering is available as an option from Audi for all variants , which reduces the turning circle and improves stability at high speeds, according to Audi. The agility of the vehicle and the driving experience could be significantly improved, according to "Deutscher Welle".
In addition to the exhaust gas turbocharger , the SQ7 has a compressor that is driven by an electric motor and requires a 48-V electrical system .
Hybrid drive variants
Hybrid drive from diesel and electric motor
The Audi Q7 e-tron is an SUV with a standard plug-in hybrid drive . It has a combined drive from a combustion engine and an electric motor . To the hybrid drive has a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine , of a maximum of 190 kW (258 hp) at 3250 to 4500 min -1 guaranteed and is connected via a coupling to the electric motor 94 kW (128 hp) at 2600 rpm −1 does. The electric motor is integrated into the housing of the newly designed eight- speed automatic transmission (Tiptronic). Both drives complement each other, the system output of the Q7 is 275 kW (374 hp). The electric motor has a maximum torque of 350 Nm from the start to about 2550 min -1 , the V6 diesel engine achieved in the range from 1250 to 3000 min -1 its highest torque of 600 Nm. The system torque is 700 Nm. The driver can choose between three modes. The "EV" mode favors electric driving, in the "hybrid" mode the hybrid management decides largely freely on the type of drive and in the "battery hold" mode it saves the available electrical energy.
The 17.3 kWh large lithium-ion battery sits protected under the luggage compartment floor; the trunk of the Audi Q7 e-tron is therefore smaller; instead of the 890 liters of the conventionally powered models, it is only 650 liters. The battery can be fully charged within around two and a half hours at a correspondingly powerful industrial socket with 7.2 kW output. A range of up to 56 kilometers is possible on electric power alone. The combined fuel consumption is 1.8–1.9 l / 100 km (power consumption 18.1–19.0 kWh / 100 km), the maximum range is up to 940 km.
The vehicle has not been available to order since mid-2018.
Hybrid drive from gasoline and electric motor
In Asia, the hybrid variant, initially as the Q7 2.0 TFSI e-tron , was offered with a petrol instead of a diesel engine. The plug-in hybrid Q7 55 e-tron, which has been available in China since 2018, has a 2.0-l R4 gasoline engine with a maximum output of 185 kW. The power of the electric motor, the capacity of the lithium-ion battery and the electric range correspond to those of the variant with a diesel engine.
At the end of 2019, new plug-in hybrid variants for the European market were presented in the facelift with the Q7 55 TFSI e quattro and Q7 60 TFSI e quattro . They have the same 3.0-l V6 petrol engines, a 19.2 / 17.3 kWh (gross / net) battery capacity, achieve an electric range of around 43 km according to WLTP and differ in the boost performance in the transmission built-in electric motor. It is expected that the Audi Q8 will also get these drive variants.
