geography

Calmels-et-le-Viala is located about 35 kilometers west-southwest of Millau and about 50 kilometers south-southeast of Rodez in the historic region of the Rouergue on the Dourdou de Camarès . Calmels-et-le-Viala is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Costes-Gozon in the north and northeast, Saint-Affrique in the east and northeast, Vabres-l'Abbaye in the south and southeast, Saint-Juéry in the southwest and Saint-Izaire in the west .
