Compeyre ( Occitan : Compèire ) is a French commune with 530 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aveyron department in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Millau and the canton of Millau-2 (until 2015: canton of Millau-Est ). The inhabitants are called Compeyrols .

Compeyre is located about seven kilometers north-northeast of Millau am Tarn , which forms the southern municipal boundary. The area belongs to the historical province of the Rouergue , which was annexed to the Quercy in 1779 . Compeyre is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Verrières in the north and northwest, Rivière-sur-Tarn in the north and northeast, La Cresse in the east, Paulhe in the south and Aguessac in the west and southwest. The municipality is part of the Grands Causses Regional Nature Park .
