Comprégnac ( Occitan : Comprenhac ) is a French commune with 249 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aveyron department in the Occitanie region . The area belongs to the historical province of the Rouergue , which was annexed to the Quercy in 1779 .
location
Comprégnac is located on the upper reaches of the Tarn about 14 kilometers (driving distance) west of Millau . The district of Peyre , located three kilometers to the east, belongs to the municipality and is classified as one of the ' Most Beautiful Villages in France '. The municipality is part of the Grands Causses Regional Nature Park .

In the 19th century the place had almost 500 inhabitants at times, but the mechanization of agriculture led to a steady population decline in the 20th century, which only seems to have come to a standstill in the 1990s.
economy
Agriculture and retail trade or small crafts have shaped the place for centuries. Truffles are searched for in autumn. Since the 1960s, tourism has also been added as a source of income in the form of renting holiday apartments ( gîtes ).

- In the district of Comprégnac there are several houses made of exposed stone masonry .
- The district of Peyre is classified as one of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in France'.
- In the fields of the municipality there are still several stone huts made of dry stone masonry ( caselles ).
- A pigeon house ( colombier ) from the late Middle Ages has also been preserved - it towers high above the river valley.
