Creissels (formerly: Creyssel ; Occitan : Creissèls ) is a French commune with 1,591 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aveyron department in the Occitania region . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Millau and the canton of Millau-1 (until 2015: canton of Millau-Ouest ). The inhabitants are called Creissellois .

location

Creissels is located about two kilometers southwest of Millau city ​​center . The Tarn limits the community to the north. The area belongs to the historical province of the Rouergue , which was annexed to the Quercy in 1779 . Creissels is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Millau in the north and east, Lapanouse-de-Cernon in the south and south-east, La Bastide-Pradines in the south, Saint-Georges-de-Luzençon in the west and Comprégnac in the north-west. The municipality is part of the Grands Causses Regional Nature Park .

The A75 autoroute runs through the western part of the municipality .
