Curan ( Occitan : Curanh ) is a French commune of the department of Aveyron in the region Occitania (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ) with 302 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017). Administratively, it is assigned to the canton of Raspes et Lévezou (until 2015: canton of Salles-Curan ) and the arrondissement of Millau . The inhabitants are called Curanais .
geography
Curan is located about 22 kilometers northwest of Millau and about 28 kilometers southeast of Rodez in one of the southern foothills of the Massif Central in a wooded region. Curan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ségur in the north, Vézins-de-Lévézou in the east and northeast, Saint-Laurent-de-Lévézou in the east, Saint-Beauzély in the southeast, Castelnau-Pégayrols in the south and southeast, Salles-Curan in the south and West as well as Prades-Salars in the north-west.
