Châtillon-Coligny is a commune with 1,889 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montargis and the canton of Lorris . It was the capital of the canton of Châtillon-Coligny in 2015 .

history

The current name was adopted in 1896. The previous name had been Châtillon-sur-Loing at least since the middle of the 16th century, that is, since the Coligny family were masters of the place . On August 18, 1643, the lordship of Châtillon-sur-Loing for Gaspard III. de Coligny raised to duchy and peerage , but associated with the title Duke of Coligny .

From 1688 to 1792 the Benedictine monastery of Châtillon-sur-Loing existed on site .
