DFB Cup 1975/76
The 1976 DFB Cup winner was Hamburger SV . This title was the beginning of several successes for Hamburg in the next few years. A year later, Hamburg won the European Cup Winners' Cup , to which they qualified with this DFB Cup victory. The 1-0 win in Munich in the semi-final replay was particularly surprising. From 1978/79, the team dominated the Bundesliga alongside FC Bayern. Defending champion Eintracht Frankfurt was eliminated in the round of 16 against Hertha BSC .
