The Football League Second Division 1925/26 was the 30th season of the Football League Second Division as the second highest English football league . It began on August 29, 1925 and ended on May 1, 1926.
The Wednesday from Sheffield became second division champions and the second-placed Derby County also rose to the Football League First Division . For the two promoted teams in the following second division season 1926/27, the two first division clubs Manchester City and Notts County ranked in the table below . FC Stoke and Stockport County had to relegate from the Second Division , with both clubs henceforth having to compete in the North Season Football League Third Division North . Instead of the two clubs in the following season 1926/27 Third Division North champions Grimsby Town and from the Football League Third Division South the winner Reading FC took the vacant positions.
