Ingersheim is a French commune with 4678 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).

geography

The municipality of Ingersheim is five kilometers northwest of downtown Colmar . A bridge leads over the Fecht at 215  m , the Florimont hill, a very good vineyard location (Grand Cru), is 308  m high. The place is on the Alsace Wine Route .

history

Grave finds indicate a settlement that took place around 5000 years ago. The Romans introduced viticulture here. Today's Ingersheim was first mentioned in writing as Annghisheim in the 7th century . In the Middle Ages the place belonged to the sphere of influence of the Habsburgs . In the 16th century Lazarus von Schwendi had the lien over the place. In the course of the Peace of Westphalia , the place came to France in 1648 and was closely connected to Colmar until the French Revolution .

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Ingersheim belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Rappoltsweiler in the district of Upper Alsace .

Community partnerships

Since 1999 Ingersheim has maintained a community partnership with the German community Ingersheim in the Ludwigsburg district ( Baden-Württemberg ). The community is also a member of the Lazarus von Schwendi Association of Cities .
