The women's javelin throw at the 2016 European Athletics Championships was held on July 7th and 9th, 2016 in the Olympic Stadium in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam .
The European champion was the Belarusian Tazzjana Chaladowitsch . She won before the German Olympic bronze medalists from 2012 , European champion of 2010 and two-time EM -third ( 2012 / 2014 ) Linda Stahl . Bronze went to the Croatian Sara Kolak .

qualification
34 participants competed in two groups for the qualification round. The qualification distance for direct entry into the final was 60.00 m. Five athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the seven next placed athletes to twelve throwers (highlighted in light green). So finally 58.13 m had to be achieved for the final.
