Les Baroches is a French commune with 351 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). The municipality is part of the Briey arrondissement and the Pays de Briey canton (until 2015: Briey canton ).

The municipality consists of the localities of Génaville , Méraumont and Penil .

location

Les Baroches is about 18 kilometers west-southwest of Thionville . Les Baroches is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lantéfontaine in the north, Val de Briey in the south and east and Anoux in the south and west.

history

The municipality was created in 1809 from the amalgamation of the then independent municipalities of Pénil and Génaville with the hamlets of Méraumont and Mussot .
