history
As a sleepy nest, the place led a shadowy existence until the iron deposits were discovered at the end of the 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, income was generated from the mines. In the 1960s, the town experienced an upswing due to the mines, which then led to a decline due to the ever lower yields. Between 1962 and 2012, the population fell by about half.
