Tellancourt is a French commune with 560 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Briey and to the Terre Lorraine du Longuyonnais municipal association founded in 2013 .

geography

The municipality of Tellancourt is on the border with Belgium , about ten kilometers west of Longwy . The municipal area extends on a poorly indented plateau between the deeply cutting valleys of the rivers Ton in the north and Chiers in the south.

Neighboring municipalities of Tellancourt are Saint-Pancré in the north, Fresnois-la-Montagne in the south-east, Viviers-sur-Chiers (point of contact) in the south, Longuyon in the south-west and Virton (Belgium) in the north-west.

history

During the Ancien Régime , Tellancourt belonged to the Duchy of Bar .

For the achievements in the First World War, Tellancourt received the award Croix de guerre with palm branch.

Economy and Infrastructure

There are six farms in the municipality (cereal cultivation, cattle breeding).

By Tellancourt the trunk road leads Longwy to Sedan as part of European route E44 from Le Havre to Luxembourg . Other roads connect Tellancourt with the Belgian Virton and other surrounding communities. The nearest train station is in Longuyon, eight kilometers away on the Charleville-Mézières - Thionville railway line .
