List of municipalities in the district of Günzburg
The list of municipalities in the district of Günzburg gives an overview of the 34 smallest administrative units in the district . It consists of 34 parishes , six of which are small towns . In 1939 the district offices of Günzburg and Krumbach were renamed the district . From 1872 to 1940 and from 1949 to 1972 Günzburg was an independent city . In its current form, the district was formed after the Bavarian territorial reform in 1972 from the district of Günzburg , the district of Krumbach (Swabia) - with the exception of two communities - and the independent city of Günzburg , as well as two communities each of the districts of Augsburg and Neu-Ulm . The current church structure was completed in 1979. The year in which they joined the municipality is noted for the suburbs of the municipalities.

The district can be further divided into seven administrative communities (VG):
- VG Haldenwang : with the communities Haldenwang , Dürrlauingen , Landensberg , Röfingen and Winterbach ;
- VG Ichenhausen : with the city of Ichenhausen , the Waldstetten marketand the community of Ellzee ;
- VG Kötz : with the municipalities of Kötz and Bubesheim ;
- VG Krumbach (Swabia) : with the communities of Aletshausen , Breitenthal , Deisenhausen , Ebershausen , Waltenhausen and Wiesenbach ;
- VG Offingen : with the Offingen marketand the communities of Gundremmingen and Rettenbach ;
- VG Thannhausen : with the city of Thannhausen , the market Münsterhausen and the municipality of Balzhausen ;
- VG Ziemetshausen : with the market Ziemetshausen and the municipality of Aichen ,
The cities of Burgau , Günzburg , Krumbach (Swabia) and Leipheim , like the markets of Burtenbach , Jettingen-Scheppach and Neuburg an der Kammel and the communities of Bibertal , Kammeltal and Ursberg, are not members of an administrative association.
The district has a total area of 762.52 km 2 . The city of Günzburg has the largest area within the district with 55.4 km 2 . This is followed by the Jettingen-Scheppach markets with 54.07 km 2 and the city of Krumbach (Swabia) with 44.75 km 2 . Another two municipalities have an area of over 40 km 2 . Four municipalities have an area larger than 30 km 2 and five municipalities are over 20 km 2 . 16 municipalities reach an area of over 10 km 2 , which four municipalities do not exceed. The smallest areas have the municipalities Landensberg with 7.95 km 2 , Bubesheim with 7.76 km 2 and Röfingen with 6.62 km 2 .
The major district town of Günzburg has the largest share of the district's population of 127,027 inhabitants with 21,028, followed by the cities of Krumbach (Swabia) with 13,522 and Burgau with 10,123. The city of Ichenhausen has a population of over 8,000. The cities of Leipheim and Thannhausen as well as the Jettingen-Scheppach market have over 6,000 inhabitants. Two municipalities have a population of over 4,000. Five municipalities have over 3,000 and two municipalities over 2,000 inhabitants. 14 municipalities have over 1,000 inhabitants, four have less than 1,000 inhabitants. The fewest inhabitants have Waltenhausen with 740, Landensberg with 726 and Ebershausen with 599.
The entire district of Günzburg has a population density of Offingen market have more than 200 inhabitants per km 2 , thirteen municipalities have more than 100 inhabitants per km 2 km 2 and 14 less than this 100. Aletshausen with 67, Waltenhausen with 55 and Winterbach with 50 have the lowest density .
