List of municipalities in the Augsburg district
This list of municipalities in the Augsburg district gives an overview of the 46 smallest administrative units in the district . It consists of six cities, eight markets and 32 municipalities . Gersthofen , Königsbrunn and Neusäß are medium- sized towns , the other three, Bobingen , Schwabmünchen and Stadtbergen , are small towns . In 1939 the district offices of Augsburg , Schwabmünchen and Wertingen were renamed the district . From this point in time, the earliest that a main town belongs to the district is noted in the list. Although Augsburg has been an independent city since 1810 , it is the county seat of the district. In its current form, the district was formed after the Bavarian territorial reform in 1972 from the districts of Augsburg and Schwabmünchen, parts of the previous district of Wertingen and some places in the districts of Donauwörth and Neuburg an der Donau . The current church structure was completed in 1979. The year in which they joined the municipality is noted for the suburbs of the municipalities.
