Meißwinkel is a residential area in the municipality of Kürten in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

The village is located in the north-west of Kürten at an altitude of 248 m on the Great Dhünntalsperre in the immediate vicinity of Weiden .

history

Meißwinkel was first mentioned in the year 1300/01 as Meysewinkele . The meaning is " Meisen angle" .

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715, Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the place already existed in 1715 as a place with two courtyards and was called Meiswinkel . From Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking's 1789 map of the Duchy of Berg, it emerges that Meißwinkel was part of the senior honors in the parish of Kürten in the district court of Kürten at that time . He names the place as Maswinkel .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the Steinbach office was dissolved and Meißwinkel was politically assigned to the Mairie Kürten in the canton of Wipperfürth in the Elberfeld arrondissement . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Kürten in the Wipperfürth district . At that time Meißwinkel belonged to the municipality of Kürten.

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Meiswinkel and on the Prussian first survey from 1840 as Meiswinkel . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, it is regularly recorded as Meisswinkel on measuring table sheets .

In 1822, 25 people lived in the place, which was categorized as a courtyard and referred to as the fairground . In 1830 the place had 27 inhabitants.
