At the XXI. In the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , nine weightlifting competitions were held. The venue was the Aréna Saint-Michel . The Olympic competitions also counted as world championships for this year. In Montreal the duel of the disciplines snatch and push was carried out for the first time, it replaced the three-way battle of snatch, push and push that was carried out from 1928 to 1972.
