Grado (Asturian: gray ) is a Spanish municipality ( concejo in Asturias, corresponds to the municipio in the rest of Spain) in the autonomous region of Asturias . It borders Candamo and Las Regueras to the north, Teverga and Yernes y Tameza to the south, Belmonte de Miranda and Salas to the west, and Proaza , Santo Adriano and Oviedo to the east . The capital is Grado.
history
The oldest finds in the community date from the Bronze Age ; Isolated fragments of ramparts from the Iron Age can still be seen . Despite the heavy settlement during the Romanization , only a few documents from this era have survived, as the population repeatedly used the buildings as quarries . The watchtowers in Villanueva , Báscones and Coalla are impressive buildings from the time of the feudal lords . In the early Middle Ages the community was still divided into the districts of Pramaro, Salcedo and Bayo. The amalgamation to today's size only took place in the 13th century.
Way of St. James
Grado is a stop on one of the oldest historical Camino de Santiago , the Camino Primitivo .
Parroquias
The municipality of Grado is divided into 28 parroquias
