The Institut national des sciences appliquées de Lyon ( INSA de Lyon , German National Institute of Applied Sciences in Lyon ) is a French scientific école Grande , focusing on the La Doua campus in Villeurbanne around Lyon resides. It belongs to the Institut national des sciences appliquées network and is affiliated with the University of Lyon . It was founded in 1957.
The course consists of two cycles:
- The first cycle provides general basic education in science.
- The second cycle offers specialized training in 12 different subject areas.
First cycle
The first cycle serves as a preparation course for the specialized second cycle. The curriculum is similar to that of the classes préparatoires : the course focuses on the fundamentals of natural sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry, mechanics and computer science).
Second cycle
The standard period of study for the second cycle is 3 years. Students can choose between 12 departments ( departments ):

- Department of Energy Technology and Environmental Engineering ( Génie Énergétique et Environnement - GEN );
- Department of Mechanical Engineering - Project Planning ( Génie Mécanique Conception - GMC );
- Mechanical Engineering Development Department ( Génie Mécanique Développement - GMD );
- Department of Mechanical Engineering - Plastics Technology ( Génie Mécanique Procédés Plasturgie - GMPP );
- Department of Labor Engineering ( Génie Industriel - GI );
- Department of Computer Science ( Informatique - IF );
- Materials Science Department ( Sciences et Génie des Matériaux - SGM );
- Telecommunications Department ( Telecoms, Services et Usages - TC )
