Noble County is a county in the state of Ohio in the United States . The county seat is Caldwell .

The county is located just south of east Ohio, about 60 km from the West Virginia border and has an area of ​​1,048 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Guernsey County , Belmont County , Monroe County , Washington County , Morgan County, and Muskingum County .

history

Noble County was formed on March 11, 1851 from parts of Guernsey, Morgan, Monroe and Washington Counties. It was named after James Noble or John Noble or his son born in 1802.

Nine structures and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of May 17, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Noble County had 14,058 people in 4,546 households and 3,318 families. The population density was 14 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.55 percent white, 6.69 percent African American, 0.26 percent Native American, 0.09 percent Asian and 0.03 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.38 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.43 percent of the population.
