1968 Summer Olympics / Participant (Hungary)

Hungary took part in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City with a delegation of 167 athletes (135 men and 32 women) in 116 competitions in 15 sports.

The Hungarian athletes won ten gold, ten silver and twelve bronze medals. Olympic champions were the athletes Gyula Zsivótzky in the hammer throw and Angéla Németh in the javelin, the wrestlers of the Greco-Roman style János Varga in the bantamweight and István Kozma in the heavyweight, the canoeists Mihály Hesz in a single kayak over 1000 meters and Tibor Tatai in the single canoe 1000 meters, the fencer Győző Kulcsár in the saber singles, the men’s epee fencing team, the modern pentathletes András Balczó , István Móna and Ferenc Török in the team standings and the men's football team. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Gergely Kulcsár .
