Ferres was in a relationship with Helmut Dietl from 1990 to 1999 . They worked together on films such as Schtonk (1991), Rossini (1997), Late Show (1999) and numerous other films by the director. In February 2000, they announced their separation.

In May 2001, shortly before their daughter was born, she married advertising manager Martin Krug in Salzburg . At the time, she also fell into a coma because of encephalitic meningitis , and then had to learn to walk and speak again. In November 2008 Ferres announced the amicable separation from Krug, in June 2010 the marriage was divorced.

She has been with the German financial entrepreneur Carsten Maschmeyer since 2009 . The couple married on September 27, 2014 in Nice . In February 2017, Ferres took part in the Federal Assembly to elect the German Federal President .

social commitment

Ferres was the patron of the Power-Child e. V. for the prevention of sexual violence against children and young people. There she collected donations, which she used to finance plays for kindergartens and elementary schools. Since 2009, she raises funds for HOPE Cape Town Association & Trust, a non-profit organization, located in South Africa for HIV -positive and suffering from tuberculosis people involved. Furthermore, Ferres became involved in 2010 as an ambassador for the SOS Children's Villages .

Ferres has been the international ambassador for Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem since 2011 . In 2013 she was awarded the Hadassah “Citizen of the World” award. She is also the patron of the evangelical aid organization Die Arche - Christian children and youth organization in Germany. In February 2012 she took over the patronage of the Burgholz children's hospice in the Bergisch city triangle . She also volunteers for DKMS Life by appearing as a guest speaker at events.

Others

Ferres sits on the advisory board of the Metropolitan School Frankfurt , which is headed by her brother Peter. In 2002 she founded the production company Bella Vita Film GmbH with her then husband Martin Krug, which produced the ARD two-parter Kein Himmel über Afrika (2005) and the films The Secret of the Whales and Rosanna's Daughter . After separating from Krug, she withdrew from the company and in 2012 founded her own production company, Construction Filmproduktion , based in Munich .

In 2007 her children's book No, I don't go with strangers! It was developed by the "German Academy of Artists and Youth Literature e. V. ”was voted“ Book of the Month ”in March 2007. Two years later, don't touch me! released. Both books were illustrated by Julia Ginsbach and are intended to sensitize children to dangerous situations. On March 14, 2011, the book Children Are Our Life at Droemer Knaur was published , which Ferres wrote together with Nicole Maibaum . It portrays 15 extraordinary people who stand up for the rights of children. In addition, Ferres worked on various audio book productions, including a. at the Rilke project . She also contributed to the book Letters Moving the World , published by Hellmuth Karasek in 2010 .

In 2008, Park Avenue magazine published a report in its June issue entitled Fall Ferres - An Actress Between Do-gooding Addiction and Appeal . Ferres saw his personal rights violated by the publication and obtained an injunction before the Hamburg district court on July 25, 2008 , according to which the magazine had to print a reply . The following lawsuit by the actress against the publisher for payment of high monetary compensation was dismissed by the Hamburg district court as unfounded.

In January 2008 Ferres was hired as a testimonial for Adler Modemärkte . The planned remuneration was 800,000 euros annually. After the chain, which originally belonged to the Metro Group , was taken over by the restructuring company BluO, the company's new management separated from Ferres. The managing director Martin Vorderwülbecke justified this with the fact that the actress had been hired by the previous owner because of her positive image and that she had lost it because of her "adulterous relationship". In the course of the process brought on by Ferres, a comparison was made between the parties: Instead of the almost 460,000 euros she had requested, she received a sum of 400,000 euros from the fashion chain, which also assumed 75 percent of the process costs. From 2005, Ferres was the advertising medium for the Diadermine beauty line, for which she also advertised abroad. In 2012 Ferres appeared as a testimonial in an advertising campaign for the Bild newspaper . In 2014, Der Spiegel revealed that Ferres and Maschmeyer were multiplying money with controversial dividend strippings .

Reactions

Ferres also had to deal with critical voices due to her role choices, activities outside of acting, and her private life. Her predilection for “positive” female roles, especially the role of the “brave mother”, is reproached for being one-sided and flat.
