Villenoy is a French municipality with 4903 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Meaux and the canton of Claye-Souilly . Their inhabitants are called Villenoyens or Villenoisiens .

geography

The Marne limits the municipality to the east. The Canal de l'Ourcq also flows through the municipality itself . Villenoy is surrounded by the neighboring communities Crégy-lès-Meaux in the north, Meaux in the northeast, Mareuil-lès-Meaux in the east, Isles-lès-Villenoy in the south, Vignely in the southwest, Trilbardou in the west and Chauconin-Neufmontiers in the west.

The A140 autoroute runs through the municipality .

history

Already in the 7th century the place was mentioned as Neuer Ort ( Villa nova ) in the will of the Aldegonde of Maubeuge . In the 12th century the place name is Willenehl .
