Jouarre is a French municipality with 4337 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Meaux and the canton of La Ferté-sous-Jouarre . The inhabitants of Jouarre call themselves Jotranciens. The place is on the bank of the Petit Morin River .
history
In the ancient Roman Empire , Jouarre, then with the Celtic name Divodurum, was a station on the road from Durocasses ( Dreux ) to Lutetia (Paris).
