One innovation was the Nordic Combined Triple , which was held for the first time under the name Weekend Challenge in the Summer Grand Prix . Three competitions took place on one weekend, the field of participants in the second competition was reduced to the best 50 and for the last competition with two rounds of jumping to the best 30 and the point and time differences for the starting order and the overall ranking of the weekend were adopted (analogous to the Four Hills Tournament ). At the end of this highlight of the World Cup, which was held in Seefeld in Tirol , the overall winner was the one who crossed the finish line of the final 15-kilometer run first.
The defending champion of the overall World Cup was the German Eric Frenzel , who won this title again.
