Wingen-sur-Moder (German Wingen an der Moder ) is a French commune with 1626 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It is located in the arrondissement of Saverne and there in the canton of Ingwiller .
geography
Wingen is located on the river Moder and is part of the Northern Vosges Nature Park . Neighboring communities in the north are Meisenthal and Goetzenbruck (both in the Moselle department ), Wimmenau in the southeast , Erckartswiller in the south, Zittersheim in the southwest and Rosteig and Soucht (Moselle department) in the northwest .
history
The village came to the Wörth district of the County of Hanau-Lichtenberg around 1790 , which at that time belonged to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt . With the upheaval begun by the French Revolution , the Amt Wörth became part of France and dissolved in the subsequent administrative reforms.

Attractions
Wingen is known through the glass manufacturer Cristallerie Lalique . The manufactory's buildings were converted into the Musée Lalique , which opened in July 2011 , by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte , who distinguished himself by restoring the Collège des Bernardins in Paris .
