Augie Pabst
August Wilhelm "Augie" Pabst (born November 25, 1933 ) is a former American racing driver .
Career
Augie Pabst was active as a sports car driver in the late 1950s and early 1960s and celebrated overall and class victories in the major US sports car races. Pabst was a works driver for the North American Racing Team and Briggs Cunningham . In 1960 he came to Europe with Luigi Chinetti to take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans . As a partner of Ed Hugus , he was seventh overall. His best finish was fourth overall a year later in Briggs Cunningham's Maserati Tipo 63 .
In the USA, Pabst was involved in Lance Reventlow's Scarab project , with whose monoposto racing car he contested several races. He later bought the emergency car from 1958 and still competes with it at events for historic racing vehicles.
