Bernard Chenevière (born July 6, 1946 in Geneva ) is a former Swiss racing driver .

Racing career

Bernard Chenevière was successful in touring and sports car racing in the 1970s . His career began in hill climbing , where he had been active since the mid-1960s. In 1966 he took part in the Sierra-Montagna hill climb , an event that was part of the World Sports Car Championship that year . Chenevière drove a Sunbeam Chamois and finished 81st overall. In 1969 he was a teammate of his compatriot Claude Haldi at the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps . The duo started the race in a Porsche 911 and came in second overall behind Guy Chasseuil and Claude Ballot-Léna (also a Porsche 911).

In 1970 he joined the sports car world championship as a full-time driver, where he remained active until 1976 . He drove for André Wicky's team , the Porsche Club Romand and Scuderia Filipinetti . His best placings in world championship races were fourth overall, achieved at the Targa Florio in 1971 and at the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring in 1973 . At the Targa Florio - overall winners Nino Vaccarella and Toine Hezemans in the Alfa Romeo T33 / 3 - Paul Keller was his team partner. The car was a Porsche 911. At the Nürburgring (winner Jacky Ickx and Brian Redman in a Ferrari 312PB ) he drove a Porsche 908/03 . Team partner was Claude Haldi.

He competed six times in the Le Mans 24-hour race . In 1973 he reached fifth overall with the two Spaniards Juan Fernández and Francisco Torredemer , his best placement in the final classification of this 24-hour race .
