Culture and sights
In the forest of Climbach there are the remains of a chapel that was built by a hermit on the site of a pagan cult site around the end of the 12th century . A century later the wooden structure was replaced by a sandstone church by the Cistercians after the square became a place of pilgrimage. The chapel was probably destroyed in the Thirty Years War . Some walls from the 14th century and above all a pointed arch have been preserved. A choir with a length of 7.70 m was attached to a ship measuring 11.80 mx 8.20 m. Carved altar stones from the Climbach Chapel can be viewed in the Westerkamp Museum in Weißenburg. The Climbronn rises within the chapel area , which was an essential reason for pilgrimages to this place in the Middle Ages due to the healing powers attributed to it.
The Maginot Line also ran near Climbach , the traces of which one still encounters here and there.
traffic
Climbach is the intersection of various department roads and is on the way from Weißenburg to Lembach.
