The 2006/07 Elitserien season was the 32nd season of the Swedish Elitserien . The preliminary round was played from September 18, 2006 to March 2, 2007, the play-offs began on March 6 and ended with the final game on April 14. Swedish champion 2006/07 was MODO Hockey . In the Kvalserien , a relegation round between the best four teams of the second-class HockeyAllsvenskan and the last two of the Elitserien, Södertälje SK and Skellefteå AIK took the first two places and will thus play in the top league next season . The Malmö Redhawks , however, were relegated to the Allsvenskan.

The twelve teams of the Elitserien each played five games against each other. Six teams played 28 home games and 27 away games, while the other teams played 27 home games and 28 away games. A team that was allowed to play more home games this season had fewer home games in the next season, unless they were relegated. The first eight teams of the preliminary round competed against each other in the play-offs, the season was over for the teams in places 9 and 10, the last two teams had to compete in the Kvalserien .

A win in regular time earned a team three points. In the event of a tie after regular time, extra time was played in which the winner received two points and the loser received one point. In the event of a tie after extra time, each team received one point. There were no points for a loss in regular time.

For the first time, the regional division of the league into groups introduced in 1996 was no longer carried out.
