The Football League First Division 1994/95 was the third season of the Football League First Division as only the second highest English football league and 92nd total playing time in the second division. It began on August 13, 1994 and ended on May 7, 1995.

Middlesbrough FC became second division champions and the Bolton Wanderers also rose to the Premier League after success in the play-off against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Reading FC in the final . As part of the reduction of the Premier League in 1995 from 22 to 20 teams, the First Division took on four relegated teams in the following 1994/95 season with Crystal Palace , Norwich City , Leicester City and Ipswich Town . The resulting overhang was in turn compensated for by the fact that four teams had to be relegated from the First Division, including Swindon Town , Burnley FC , Bristol City and Notts County . In return, with Second Division winner Birmingham City and Play-off winner Huddersfield Town , only two teams from the third division were promoted.
