Footballer of the Year (Malta)

The most outstanding player of a season is honored annually in Malta as Footballer of the Year . The Footballer of the Year is chosen and recognized by the members of the Malta Football Association . All Maltese players who are under contract with a club of the Maltese Premier League are eligible as candidates . The award has been made since 1955, with Lolly Debattista being the first to win the title.

The most successful players are Gilbert Agius and Andrew Cohen , both of whom have each been voted three times Footballer of the Year. Eight other players were each awarded twice. Hibernians Paola is the club with the most award-winning players: a total of 16 times the award was given to a player who was in the club's squad in the year the title was awarded. FC Valletta and Sliema Wanderers follow with 14 and 11 awards respectively .
