Handball Bundesliga 2005/06

The 2006/07 handball Bundesliga was the 29th of the single-track seasons and the 41st season of the highest German division in men's handball in the history of the Bundesliga . The season began on August 25, 2006 and ended with the last game day on June 2, 2007.

18 teams played for the German championship. The first in the table on the last match day is German champions 2007. Newcomers to the new season were HBW Balingen-Weilstetten and Eintracht Hildesheim . In addition, the DHB Cup was played for the 33rd time.

The German champion in 2007 was the THW Kiel team for the 13th time in the club's history .

HSG Düsseldorf and Eintracht Hildesheim had to relegate from the Bundesliga to the 2nd Bundesliga .

In 306 games, a total of 18,159 goals (average 59.3 per game) were scored, around 0.8 goals more than in the 2005/06 season . There were 184 home wins, 18 draws and 104 away wins. The highest home win was recorded by THW Kiel on matchday 25 with 39:17 against HSG Düsseldorf . The highest away win was also achieved by the THW Kiel team on matchday 22 with 31:46 at MT Melsungen . The highest-scoring game took place on the 26th matchday between VfL Gummersbach and THW Kiel and ended 37:42. That was 19 goals more than the overall average. Five clubs were at the top of the table during the season: TBV Lemgo (1 ×), VfL Gummersbach (2 ×), Frisch Auf Göppingen (3 ×), SG Flensburg-Handewitt (5 ×) and THW Kiel (23 ). The top scorer was Yoon Kyung-shin from HSV Hamburg with 209/80 goals .

The THW Kiel team secured the DHB Cup, which was played for the 33rd time .

A total of seven German teams took part in international competitions, four of which made it into the finals in the spring. In the EHF Champions League there was even a purely German final between THW Kiel and SG Flensburg-Handewitt . THW Kiel won the EHF Champions League 2006/07 , HSV Hamburg secured the EHF European Cup Winners' Cup 2006/07 and SC Magdeburg won the EHF Cup 2006/07 . This was the first time that all three European cups went to Germany.

Relegation

The TV Großwallstadt had a table Sixteenth into the relegation. The opponent was found in a qualification for relegation between the runners-up in the North and South seasons of the 2nd Bundesliga. For this purpose, two games were played.

After the first and second leg, TSV Bayer Dormagen qualified with 61:58 (31:31 and 30:27) for the relegation to the Bundesliga.

Broadcast on television

The TV broadcaster DSF broadcast a total of 22 league games this season live, including one game on the 33rd and 34th matchday. The live games took place either on Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. On www.hbl.tv beamed Sportdigital also on each day on which was played a game live is payable by live stream from. The two championship games ( THW Kiel - HSG Nordhorn and Frisch Auf Göppingen - HSV Hamburg ) were broadcast live by NDR in a conference call on June 2, 2007.

DHB Cup

The team from THW Kiel won the 2006/07 DHB Cup . She defeated the SG Kronau / Östringen team in the final on April 15, 2007 in the Color Line Arena in Hamburg with 33:31 (15:19).
