Cattenom (German Kattenhofen , Luxemburgish Kettenuewen ) is a French commune with 2,654 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thionville , is the seat of the community association Cattenom et Environs and was the capital of the canton of Cattenom until 2015 .
geography
The community is located on the Moselle about eight kilometers north of Thionville and about twelve kilometers southwest of the border triangle France - Luxembourg - Germany . The districts Homeldange, Husange, Sentzich and Warpich belong to Cattenom .
Neighboring communities of Cattenom are Breistroff-la-Grande in the north, Fixem and Gavisse in the north-east, Malling and Kœnigsmacker in the east, Basse-Ham in the south, Thionville and Hettange-Grande in the south-west and Boust in the north-west.
