The SRH remote high school - with the nickname The Mobile University - is a university in private ownership. It is represented at 21 locations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and offers distance learning courses alongside vocational training and university certificates . The distance university is part of the SRH Holding , a foundation under civil law.

history

In 1996 the Kolping University of Applied Sciences for Business was founded. In 1998 the German Order took over the sponsorship of the university and sold it to the SRH group in 2001 . In 2005 it was accredited as the first private distance learning university in Germany and reaccredited in 2010. In June 2011 it received institutional accreditation for a maximum of ten years. The condition was "that the relationship between the university management and the sponsoring company [...] should be changed in such a way that the necessary independence is institutionally guaranteed with a view to freedom of research and teaching ". All courses have been accredited by AHPGS or ZEvA . In 2019 the SRH Hochschule Heidelberg , the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences and the SRH Fernhochschule - The Mobile University were examined by the Accreditation Council and were jointly " system accredited ". In May 2020, the SRH Fernhochschule was officially recognized by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Science, Research and Art for an unlimited period.

Teaching concept

Distance learning at the SRH Fernhochschule is primarily aimed at working people and provides for a ratio between self-study (70%), voluntary face-to-face teaching on four weekends per semester in the study center of your choice (20%) and internet-based support via the university's intranet, including virtual lectures (10%) before. Teaching via tablet PC, the concept of mobile learning , is new in almost all courses at the Mobile University. Here z. B. also offered podcasts and special apps .

The tuition fees are between 299 and 539 euros per month , depending on the degree and payment model .
