The Ski Jumping World Cup 1997/98 (official name: FIS Ski Jumping World Cup 1997/98 ) was one of the International Ski Federation FIS discharged from 29 November 1997 to 22 March 1998, 19 different locations in Europe and Asia series of competitions in ski jumping . The World Cup consisted of 25 individual competitions. In addition, the two competition days of the ski flying world championship held in Oberstdorf were treated like two additional world cups, so that 27 individual competitions were included in the evaluation. The Slovenian defending champion Primož Peterka won the overall standings this season , followed by Japanese Kazuyoshi Funaki and Austrian Andreas Widhölzl in second and third place . Primož Peterka won the ski jumping discipline, ahead of the Japanese Masahiko Harada and Andreas Widhölzl. The defending champion of this discipline, the German Dieter Thoma , took seventh place. The German Sven Hannawald was able to secure victory in the ski flying classification ahead of Kazuyoshi Funaki and Andreas Widhölzl and Primož Peterka (defending champion), who were in third place ex aequo. The national championship was won by defending champion Japan ahead of the teams from Germany and Austria .
