Agnières is a French municipality with 249 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France (formerly Nord-Pas-de-Calais ).
geography
Agnières is located at an average altitude of 90 meters above sea level 45 kilometers southwest of Lille , the capital of the region, and 15 kilometers northwest of Arras , the prefecture of the department. The village is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Capelle-Fermont , Villers-Châtel and Aubigny-en-Artois . The Scarpe flows south of the town center through the municipality. The municipality has an area of 3.25 square kilometers.
history
The name Agnières comes from the Latin word asinus (donkey) or asinaria (place where donkeys are bred). In 1242 it was mentioned in a document as Anier , 1272 as Anyer and 1429 as Anhiers .
In 1793 Agnières was still called Agnieres, it received its è and the right to local self-government in the course of the French Revolution in 1801.

Culture and sights
The Saint-Léger church has a bell tower that was built in the 12th century. The nave was built in 1544 and the choir (architecture) in the 18th century.
