- Bonn / Germany : The Deutsche Bundespost replaces the four-digit with five-digit postcodes . With this measure, the postcode systems of the Federal Republic up to 1990 and the accession area will be merged.
- Bonn / Germany : The amendment to the Basic Law regarding the " third country regulation " comes into force. In contrast to others, people who apply for asylum in Germany but enter via countries in which no political persecution takes place have a significantly lower chance that their procedure will end with an unrestricted residence permit in accordance with Section 25 of the Residence Act .

Disruptive influences on the earth's orbit and rotation without UTC correction would mean that after 90 years the earth would only be at the point of a complete annual orbit of the sun with a delay of 60 s .

- Bonn / Germany : The Bundestag votes for the second time on the deployment of the German Somalia Support Association , which is intended to reinforce a military operation by the United Nations . The first "out-of-area deployment" in the history of the republic is supported by 337 against 185 votes. H. Bundeswehr ground troops are deployed outside of their own national territory.
- Heathrow / United Kingdom : The national biathlon associations decide to found the International Biathlon Union . Before that they were organized in the world association UIPMB .
- Mogadishu / Somalia : Under the UN - Operation in Somalia II launch 500 Italian soldiers under the command of General Bruno Loi along with 400 officials of the new Somali police between checkpoints "Pasta" ( "Pastificio") and "Ferro" an action to Disarmament of the feuding militias of Mohamed Farah Aidid and Ali Mahdi Mohammed .
- Sivas / Turkey : 37 people, including numerous prominent Alevi artists, are killed in an arson attack on participants in an Alevi festival .

- London / United Kingdom : Steffi Graf from Germany wins the Wimbledon Championships in tennis for the fifth time . In the final , she defeated the Czech Jana Novotná in three sets.
- Potsdam / Germany : The city celebrates the first mention of the village "Poztupimi" 1,000 years ago in the presence of Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker .
- Vaduz / Liechtenstein : Prince Alois , the first-born son of Prince Hans-Adam II , and Sophie Duchess in Bavaria celebrate their wedding .
Sunday 4th July 1993
- Cesena / Italy : The Norwegian national soccer team for women becomes European champion for the second time at the 5th European Championship by beating Italy 1-0 in the final .
- Guayaquil / Ecuador : In the final of the 36th Copa America , the national soccer team of Argentina wins 2-1 against Mexico and is now the sole record holder of the tournament with 14 successes . Mexico took part in the South American Championship for the first time.
- London / United Kingdom : In the final of the men's singles at the Wimbledon Championships , Pete Sampras from the USA wins against his compatriot Jim Courier in four sets.
- Munich / Germany : The German men's basketball team is in the 28th European Championship with a 71: 70-final win against Russia for the first time European champion .
Wednesday 7th July 1993
- Tokyo / Japan : The 19th economic summit of the heads of state of the Group of Seven begins. In addition to the usual representative of the European Commission since 1981 , the President of the European Council also officially takes part in the summit. The focus is on the fight against unemployment , but the expansion of global free trade plays an important role . The negotiations on tariff reductions through an extension of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) will continue at the summit.

- Capel-le-Ferne / United Kingdom : Queen Elisabeth II opens the Battle of Britain Memorial . It is reminiscent of the British aircraft crews who took part in the Battle of Britain .
- Munich / Germany : The 25th Evangelical Church Congress begins. Its motto is: "Accept one another."
- Tokyo / Japan : In the final declaration of the world economic summit, the heads of state of the Group of Seven name high unemployment and insufficient economic growth as the greatest challenges for their economies . They state that the further reduction of duties of the economy could give a boost. This initiative for more free trade goes back to US President Bill Clinton .

- Bujumbura / Burundi : Melchior Ndadaye and Sylvie Kinigi take up their posts as the first freely elected president and prime minister of the Central African country.
- Dalarna / Sweden : The Avesta storm reaches its peak. He claims one death and several hundred injured. He also causes damage amounting to several million Swedish kronor .
- Kitsap County / United States : The Navy of the United States Armed Forces takes the USS Nebraska , the 14 nuclear-powered submarine with ballistic missiles of the Ohio class , into operation. It is equipped with 24 intercontinental ballistic missiles equipped.
Sunday 18th July 1993
- Islamabad / Pakistan : Both President Ghulam Ishaq Khan and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif are stepping down and ending the political crisis that began in April when Khan fired the Prime Minister for malpractice, corruption and nepotism. The Supreme Court reinstated Khan in May .
- Kigali / Rwanda : Education Minister Agathe Uwilingiyimana (Republican and Democratic Movement) succeeds Dismas Nsengiyaremye in the office of Prime Minister .
- New Zealand : Winston Peters , former member of the National Party , which is based populist and nationalist party New Zealand First .
- Tokyo / Japan : The Shūgiin election takes place and confirms the loss of the absolute majority of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Even with the help of independent MPs, she is no longer able to control the Shūgiin .

- Vilnius / Lithuania : The previous national currency Talonas is no longer valid. At banks, cash can be exchanged for the new currency litas at a rate of 1: 100 .
