Maurepas is a French municipality with 18,281 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Yvelines in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Rambouillet and the canton of the same name .

location

The city is on the N10 national road between Versailles (19 km) and Rambouillet (18 km).

  • Remains of a defense tower, built around the year 1000 and destroyed by the English in the Hundred Years War in 1425 .
  • Church Saint-Sauveur at the foot of the ruined castle of the 15th and 16th centuries.
  • Notre Dame church in the center of the city. Built in 1973 by the architect Roland Predieri and decorated with a large facade mosaic (250 m²) by the artist Robert Lesbounit .
