Michaël Llodra (born May 18, 1980 in Paris ) is a former French tennis player . He is a knight of the French National Order of Merit .
Career
Michaël Llodra won five singles titles in his professional career and reached four other finals.
He was far more successful in doubles, where he came up with 26 titles. With victories at the Australian Open in 2003 and 2004 (each with Fabrice Santoro ) and Wimbledon in 2007 (with Arnaud Clément ), he achieved three Grand Slam successes as well as one success with Santoro in the 2005 Tennis Masters Cup . In addition, he failed 22 times in doubles competitions only in the final, including the Australian Open 2002 (with Santoro), the French Open 2004 (with Santoro) and the Australian Open 2008 (with Clément). In 2012 he reached the final with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the doubles competition of the Olympic Games , which they lost in straight sets to Bob and Mike Bryan .
Llodra's best world rankings were position 21 (May 2011) in the singles and position 3 (November 2011) in the doubles.
For the French Davis Cup team , he completed a total of 28 matches between 2002 and 2014. He won four of his nine singles games and 20 of his 28 appearances in doubles. In 2010 he lost the decisive single game in the final against Serbia in three sets against Viktor Troicki ; Serbia won the final 3-2.
On January 24, 2002 Michaël Llodra succeeded in the semi-finals of the Australian Open at the side of his partner Fabrice Santoro the "feat" of hitting a bird flying low over the court with the tennis ball. The ball was deflected out of reach of opponents Julien Boutter and Arnaud Clément . Referee Javier Moreno carried the dead animal off the pitch. Llodra announced in 2014 that he would retire at the end of the season. In 2014 he advised the Belgian Davis Cup team before their final against Great Britain.
From 2018 he works for Nicolas Mahut as a trainer.
