Robert Valentine (referee)

Robert Bonar Valentine (born May 10, 1939 in Dundee ) is a former Scottish football referee .

Valentine led various important roles at major events. At the Soccer World Cup in Spain in 1982 , he directed the game between Austria and Germany . He was also allowed to whistle the game of the second group stage between Poland and the Soviet Union in Barcelona . In the semifinals between France and Germany he was a linesman. At the European Football Championship in 1984 , he directed the French game against Belgium in the group stage. In 1988 at the European Football Championship in Germany in 1988, he whistled the game from the group stage between Germany and Denmark .

After his career as a referee, he became a referee inspector for the Scottish Federation and was a typesetter .
