The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 52nd time in 1951/52 . It was also the 55th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on September 8, 1951 and ended on April 30, 1952. In the 1951/52 season, 16 clubs competed against each other in a total of 30 game days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted .
The championship won for the fourth time in the club's history Hibernian Edinburgh . Morton and Stirling Albion were relegated to Division Two at the end of the season . The top scorer was Lawrie Reilly of Hibernian Edinburgh with 27 goals .
