Road run
The road running is a group of disciplines of athletics or the running sport and is defined as a long-distance running , which does not on a web takes place, but on a measured distance outside of a stadium. As the name suggests, the run is mainly on asphalted ground (otherwise it is called cross , trail or forest runs ).
Within the meaning of German Athletics Association (DLV), the road running borders in addition to the public run from, by narrower Prerequisites (possession of a start-pass filter, not marked by the association lock), a surveyed by a DLV-accredited experts route and the application of the Event at the DLV as a road run. Pure street races are organized less often than fun runs because of the increased effort and the lower number of participants and are mostly high-class sporting events (championships, international competitions). On the other hand, a combined public and street run is more common .
The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has been organizing the half marathon world championships annually since 1992, which were renamed the road running world championships in 2006 and 2007 .
Standard routes
The IAAF keeps best and record lists over 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, 20 km, half marathon (21.0975 km), 25 km, 30 km, marathon (42.195 km) and 100 km. The prerequisite for being able to use the leaderboard is that the length of the route has been determined by an accredited surveyor using a Jones counter and that any incline (in terms of height difference) between start and finish is less than 1 ‰ of the total route. For a time to be recognized as a world record , it is also necessary that the start and finish are not more than 50% of the total distance apart and that the length of the route is checked again promptly by an accredited surveyor. World records on partial distances are recognized, provided that these meet the same conditions and the athlete finishes the competition over the entire distance.
Popular distances over which the IAAF does not compile a leaderboard are 8 km (or 5 miles ), 12 km, 10 miles (16.1 km) and 50 km.
