Babylon (German Babilon ) is a municipality with 304 inhabitants in the Chodsko region with historical monuments and folk folklore in Okres Domažlice in the Czech Republic .
geography
The village is located in the Cham-Further valley ( Všerubská vrchovina ) in the Bystřice valley and is an important resort in the region. The state road I / 26 between Horšovský Týn and Furth im Wald and the railway line Plzeň – Furth im Wald run through it. The Pastritz Canal runs on the eastern edge of the village .
history
The former woodcutter village was already populated in the Bronze Age . Permanent settlement began in the 10th century. The village was founded around the 15th century, the first written mention comes from the year 1587. From 1940 to 1945 the community belonged to the Bavarian district of Waldmünchen . Until after 1945 Babylon lay on the language border between German and Czech.
