List of village churches in Brandenburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Brandenburg village churches described so far on Wikipedia are listed in the list of village churches in Brandenburg . For the term village church see the article village church .

There are around 850 village churches in the federal state of Brandenburg , which are either obviously or verifiably of medieval origin. A fifth of them are in the Uckermark (190) as well as in Niederlausitz , on the Barnim and in the Prignitz (a good 100 each). In addition to the 850 there are several hundred village churches that were not built until after the Middle Ages, often in the second half of the 19th century and then made of exposed brick. The example of the until then completely unknown field stone apse church from the 13th century, which was discovered during the archaeological clearing of the village of Diepensee for the Schönefeld airport expansion , shows that a medieval origin cannot be completely ruled out .
