history
Obernheim and Kirchenarnbach were part of the Landstuhl rule of the Barons von Sickingen .
In connection with the French Revolutionary Wars , the region came under French administration in 1794. and from 1798 belonged to the canton Landstuhl in the Donnersberg department . From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Obernheim and Kirchenarnbach were incorporated into the canton of Kaiserslautern and subordinated to the Mairie Gerhardsbrunn .
In 1815 the municipality of Austria was added. Just one year later, the place, like the entire Palatinate, changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . From 1818 to 1862, "Kirchenarnbach and Obernheim" - still part of the canton Landstuhl, which was henceforth Bavarian - belonged to the Homburg Land Commissioner ; from this the district office of Homburg emerged.
The community name was changed in 1911 from Kirchenarnbach-Obernheim to Obernheim-Kirchenarnbach . Since part of the district office - including Homburg itself - was added to the newly created Saar area in 1920 , Vogelbach moved to the newly created district office in Landstuhl . From 1939 the place was part of the district of Kaiserslautern . After the Second World War , Obernheim-Kirchenarnbach became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform , the municipality was reclassified on April 22, 1972 to the district of Pirmasens (from 1997 district of Südwestpfalz ) . At the same time, the community became part of the newly created Verbandsgemeinde Wallhalben , since 2014 Obernheim-Kitrchenarnbach has been part of the Verbandsgemeinde Thaleischweiler-Wallhalben .
