Meyers Memo is a one-volume encyclopedia from Meyers Lexikonverlag Mannheim / Vienna / Zurich, which was published in Mannheim in 1991 and is based on the experience in the development of encyclopedias of the Bibliographical Institute & FA Brockhaus . The work is a German translation of the French Mémo Larousse published in 1989 by the French publisher Éditions Larousse, which specializes in encyclopedias and dictionaries . Meyer's Memo appeared in the same year as a special edition on the same page with a different cover under the titleThe great book of general knowledge also published by Das Beste GmbH , Stuttgart.

In contrast to conventional, alphabetically arranged lexicons, this reference work, conceived as a thematic lexicon, prepares the encyclopedic material in a general canon of nineteen areas of knowledge and thematic contexts, which in turn are subdivided into further categories . The volume has 1279 pages, is provided with 4000 illustrations throughout and contains 300 maps. In addition to thematic access, a 47-page index of persons and subjects also allows alphabetical access to the contents of the knowledge areas and subject areas. The compact lexicon anticipates the development and construction of topic-related internet portals in printed form in the introduction, preparation and presentation of image-text relationships .
