Pailly is a French village with 306 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Sens and the canton of Thorigny-sur-Oreuse (until 2015: canton of Sergines ). The inhabitants are called Thorignats or Thorigniens .

Pailly is about 17 kilometers north-northeast of Sens . Pailly is surrounded by the neighboring communities Villenauxe-la-Petite in the north, Perceneige in the east, Thorigny-sur-Oreuse in the south and south-east, Plessis-Saint-Jean in the west and Compigny in the north-west.
