Champigny is a French commune with 2,204 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Yonne in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Sens and the canton of Pont-sur-Yonne . The inhabitants are called Campestriens .

geography

The Yonne River forms the northern boundary of the municipality. Champigny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vinneuf in the north and northwest, Courlon-sur-Yonne in the northeast, Villemanoche in the east, Lixy in the southeast, Villethierry in the south and Chaumont in the west.

The former national road N 6 (today's D 606) leads through Champigny.
